Flooding forces reserve 230 SK.

?

About 230 people on the First Nation Cowessess in Saskatchewan had to be rushed from their homes to the rapid increase in flood waters.

Approximately 60 houses in a lower subdivision of the reservation, about 160 kilometres east of Regina, were evacuated Tuesday night.

"The mall got flooded yesterday evening, our main road also flooded in last night, so things are not good research", said the Councillor of the band Glenn Pelletier.

The melting of snow and ice near the lakes and rivers hit parts of the community almost without warning this week.

People are currently presented in Broadview, Grayson and Whitewood. Thus, the city of Grayson opened his room for people to sleep there.

Some residents of the reserve went to friends and families to stay. Others remain in the hotels of Broadview and Whitewood.
